Bruce Combs - REACH BEYOND
What a beautiful array of colors, Natalie. And that sole yellow-green bit upper right keeps pulling my eyes up there -- a powerful touch! -- away from my favorite two pieces -- I think that consciously or not you meant them to be -- the bottom light blue enfolding a light colored shape (I keep Rorschaching them as various physical-world things that I'll leave unmentioned) and the darker blue center-right, which I am having a lot of trouble trying not to see it as a big truck struggling up out of the paintings middle deep hole. For me, a majority of the individual shapes invites, or imposes(?), such interpretive confusion with physical things, or parts of them. I must be feeling the heat, or love, or, too much dark chocolate, or some other intoxication, or constipation, etc. I don't usually see much but colors, shapes, and lines, and depths. And the whole keeps getting better and better for me the longer I look! As I think good art should. The effect on me is nothing intellectual. At first I thought it was not tranquil, as the title alleges, but rather nervous. Now I'll try coming back, as I do so frequently to your gallery, when I need it. Thanks, Natalie. Peace, etc., Bruce
